In reference to a measure of time used by composers, “con moto” describes the tempo of a musical movement and means “in motion.” It conveys the company’s claim to dynamism and development, which is aptly reflected in the corporate claim Soundful Living.

In 1997 Johannes Wagner founded conmoto. His first product: stainless steel fireplace cutlery. His goal was to offer a cutlery that is functional and beautiful at the same time.

The assortment and scope of conmoto’s activities has expanded greatly over the past 20 years. Conmoto has not only expanded its collaboration with renowned designers and produces the highest quality design furniture for indoor and outdoor use, for several years the company has also been active in the project sector, developing holistic room concepts for major clients ranging from The Ritz Carlton to Rolls Royce and Borrussia Mönchengladbach. Since 2019, the company owns its own factory near Münster in which a large proportion of its own products are manufactured.
